ASU Rector Daud Mamiy discussed contemporary advancements in scientific thought, the university’s initiatives to support youth, and ongoing projects during his appearance on the "Apple Morning" program on "Maikop Speaks" radio.

"Today, applied scientific research plays a crucial role for the nation, as it is instrumental in safeguarding Russia’s technological sovereignty. This encompasses a broad spectrum of disciplines, including artificial intelligence, genetic research, and others. At the same time, there is a continued emphasis on fundamental science and the humanities," stated the rector.

He emphasized the growing interest of young people in science, noting that they now have a multitude of opportunities to explore their areas of interest, engage with like-minded individuals at universities both nationally and internationally, participate in prominent forums, conferences, and congresses, secure research grants, and generate income. The discussion also addressed various initiatives designed to support and empower young researchers.

Daud Mamiy elaborated on the research conducted by ASU scholars in the areas of identity and regional branding, differential equations, and the application of information technology within the agricultural sector. Furthermore, he discussed initiatives aimed at science popularization, talent identification and development systems, and projects that integrate scientific research with tourism, such as "Thirty with Mathematics."

The conversation also featured personal questions. For instance, inquiries were made about Daud Kazbekovich's childhood aspirations and whether he ever envisioned himself becoming a scientist.

He responded with a touch of humor, saying, "I never imagined myself as a scientist. I had a happy childhood—I didn’t think much about the future. I am actually very grateful to my parents for granting me complete freedom. In fourth grade, I aspired to be a historian and devoured history books. By seventh grade, I aimed to become an astrophysicist and read extensively on astrophysics. Later, I decided to pursue applied mathematics and studied programming. In eighth and ninth grades, I finally focused on mathematics and made the decision to become a mathematician."

If you missed the program, we invite you to watch the video broadcast  to learn about the subject Daud Kazbekovich considers the epitome of modern science, his perspective on the role of myths in scientific inquiry, the importance of large teams in research, the process of making discoveries, the relevance of insight and intuition in science, the potential of integrating educational technologies with psychological research, and whether the possibilities of artificial intelligence in science and education are limitless.
