Renowned Regional Expert Aliy Khatkov Headlines the Latest RGS Lecture Hall Event

An open lecture on "Tourism in Adygea: Development, Establishment and People" was given by Aliy Khatkov, Honored Worker in Tourism of Adygea and Deputy Chairman of the Adygea Republican Organization of the All-Russian Trade Union of Education.

A graduate of the Faculty of History, former Chairman of the Primary Trade Union of ASU Students, and former Director of the Edelweiss Sports and Tourism Center at Adyghe State University, the lecturer unfolded before the audience a picture of the development of tourism in the republic, beginning with the visits of foreign travelers to Circassia in the 19th century, noting the stimulating role of the railway that appeared in the early 20th century, and describing the first planned tourist routes of the Soviet Union, including Route No. 35 "Along the Caucasus Nature Reserve."

This year marks 90 years since the first organized group traveled this route. In his presentation, Aliy Mossovich revealed many details about tourism in Adygea, little known to the general public. The audience learned the history of the Tourist House in Kamennomostsky, the All-Union Komsomol construction project of the Lagonaki tourist center, and the Maykop Tourist Club.

The lecturer particularly noted the contributions of prominent residents of the republic to the development of tourism. The names of Aslan Bagov, Galina Vasilyeva, Genrikh Derziyan, and Mikhail Tsukanov, who laid the foundations for many traditions in the tourism industry, were expressed with gratitude .

The lecturer also remembered our fellow countrymen who represent the republic with dignity both domestically and internationally in the field of mountain and sports tourism, including Ivan Bormotov, Dmitry Kuznetsov, Viktor Afanasyev, and Maxim Bogatyrev.

The speaker himself earned the title of Candidate Master of Sports in sports tourism at the age of 21. But Aliy Mossovich takes his numerous accolades lightly, insisting that titles aren't the most important thing, and that he is, first and foremost, a man who "forces all tourists to greet each other on the trail and doesn't allow them to throw papers, especially in the nature reserve."
