Innovative Pedagogical Engineering: Shaping Future Educators, Social Workers, and Tourism Specialists at ASU

A research seminar titled "Pedagogical Engineering Technologies: Tools for Educators, Social Workers, and Tourism Specialists" was held at Adygea State University.

As social, economic, and technological conditions evolve rapidly, traditional models of training specialists are losing their effectiveness, and curricula must be updated accordingly. 

"Old approaches were developed for a stable industrial society with a rigid hierarchy. Today’s world has become interconnected and turbulent—it's crucial not only to impart knowledge but also to teach students how to navigate non-standard situations, forge their own paths, and collaborate effectively in teams," noted Elena Demkina, Dean of the Faculty of Social Technologies and Tourism.

The solution to this challenge lies in pedagogical engineering—an innovative approach where specialists become architects of experience. Instead of merely transmitting knowledge, they design environments that foster optimal development for individuals. 

Over the course of three days, as part of a broader research initiative,120 participants—including faculty members, undergraduate, and graduate students from the Faculty of Social Technologies and Tourism, as well as students from the Faculty of History—explored the fundamental question: how can education be designed to genuinely be effective?

The significance of this research is underscored by a notable contradiction: today's students seek comfort and fear making mistakes, while employers demand resilience and the ability to provide immediate solutions. The innovative approaches mastered by the participants are specifically designed to address this paradox: supervised practice, soft skills development, mentoring, and a shift from mere knowledge transfer to developmental support.

The study was conducted across ten different areas, covering key topics such as personal and career development, educational security, technologies in tourism and social work, as well as digital solutions and communication strategies. The outcome extended beyond mere theoretical insights; participants actively engaged in designing tangible, practical solutions.

"We have mastered the tools of pedagogical engineering, a discipline that is just beginning to be introduced but is already demonstrating its effectiveness," concluded seminar organizer Dana Khashkhova.

As a result, the emergence of interdisciplinary projects that integrate pedagogy, social spheres, and tourism is anticipated.
