Inspiring Courage and Dedication: Dmitry Slepov The Head of the Fire and Rescue Squad Inspires Youth at “Conversation with a Hero project” at AST

Dmitry Slepov, Colonel of the Internal Service and Chief of the 1st Fire and Rescue Squad of the Federal Fire Service of the State Fire Service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Adygea, spoke at the "Conversation with a Hero" project.

Dmitry Slepov has dedicated decades to service. His professionalism and unwavering dedication have been recognized with numerous high departmental awards: the Medal "For Distinguished Service," 3rd Class (2008); the Medal "20th Anniversary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia" (2010); the Medal "For Distinguished Service," 2nd Class (2011); and the Marshal Vasily Chuikov Commemorative Medal (2012). These honors reflect his countless contributions—saving hundreds of lives, enduring sleepless nights at fires, and demonstrating a constant readiness to help.

The guest shared with the students the factors that influenced their decision to pursue a career as a firefighter and rescuer. They recounted unusual and challenging experiences from their years of service and outlined the essential qualities for those aspiring to work in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Dmitry Viktorovich encouraged young people to adopt a responsible attitude toward safety. 

“When people stop thinking, ‘Maybe it won’t happen,’ then there will be fewer fires,” the rescuer confidently stated.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the students engaged with the guest of honor by asking questions and receiving insightful answers.

As a reminder, "conversation with a Hero" is a project led by the Youth Policy Department of Adyghe State University. The primary goals of this initiative are to strengthen spiritual and moral values, foster patriotism, preserve historical memory, and instill a sense of pride in young people for their country. The project features a series of meetings where members of the younger generation can openly interact with distinguished individuals whose achievements, actions, and life journeys exemplify courage, determination, and dedication.
