A meeting was held in Moscow at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Adygea to the President of the Russian Federation, bringing together graduates of the Republican School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Adyghe State University, and Daud Mamiy, Rector of ASU and Academic Director of the Republican School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The event convened representatives from various generations of graduates—including scientists, entrepreneurs, experts, and managers—whose professional careers are now closely connected to the country's leading scientific and educational institutions.
At the meeting, Daud Mamiy delivered a presentation on the university's development strategy, key projects, and new opportunities for collaboration among alumni, the university, and the republic. In recent years, Adyghe State University has been consistently strengthening its position within the federal scientific and educational agenda. The university is an active participant in the "Priority 2030" strategic academic leadership program, which brings together leading Russian universities engaged in projects to advance science, education, and technological innovation.
By the end of 2025, ASU had significantly strengthened its position within the program, advancing from the third to the second group of the main track. This progression has enabled the university to access additional opportunities for implementing large-scale research projects and fostering partnerships with industry.
Daud Kazbekovich explained that one of the university’s key development areas is the strategic technology project, "Digital Breeding: Digital Assistant for Breeders." A team of ASU scientists and students is working on developing a domestic digital platform that automates agricultural crop breeding processes—ranging from phenotypic data collection to analysis, forecasting, and the selection of breeding pairs. The implementation of this project is expected to accelerate the development of new plant varieties and enhance agricultural efficiency.
The meeting centred on the "Heart in Adygea" project. This initiative aims to foster a community of experts, entrepreneurs, scientists, and managers—individuals from the republic and those inspired by Adygea—who are prepared to engage in the implementation of strategic projects and regional development. The project involves students from premier Russian universities, representatives of the business sector, academic professionals, and public administration specialists.
The ASU rector highlighted that the university is actively expanding its educational and scientific domains, integrating fundamental mathematics, information technology, and applied research.
"Mathematics has always been a core strength of the university. However, today, we are dedicated to transforming our Mathematics School into a foundation for pioneering technological advancements, with a primary focus on information technology. Our goal is to develop projects that will position the Republic of Adygea as an attractive hub for talented young individuals, scientists, and technology companies. One such initiative is the Apple Valley project, which aims to establish the region as a high-tech center with a robust innovation infrastructure," stated Daud Mamiy.
The meeting also addressed key areas of the university's activities, including the development of partnerships with research centers and industrial companies, as well as ASU's involvement in federal educational initiatives. Beginning this year, the university has assumed the role of operator for the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in implementing a comprehensive action plan aimed at enhancing the quality of mathematics and natural sciences education through 2030, focusing on three subjects: mathematics, chemistry, and biology.
The meeting offered an open platform for dynamic dialogue. Graduates of the university and the Republican School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics from various cohorts were able not only to learn about ongoing projects at ASU and in Adygea but also to present their own initiatives.
Following the discussion, participants emphasised the significance of establishing a professional alumni community capable of leveraging scientific expertise, entrepreneurial skills, and management experience to drive the development of the Republic of Adygea through innovative projects.
There was something truly special about this meeting. Every attendee was a graduate of REMSh and ASU — individuals engaged in scientific research, working in technology, and committed to advancing education. However, our connection extends beyond our professional pursuits; we are united by the school and university that once shaped our beginnings. Many of those present have achieved success precisely because of the educational system established here. Witnessing the ongoing development of new projects around the university—research schools, educational initiatives, technological innovations—evokes a profound sense of responsibility. As one participant expressed, "I want to maintain my connection with the university and contribute to its efforts in the development of the republic."
It is possible that these meetings may serve as a catalyst for the formation of new scientific teams, technological initiatives, and strategic partnerships dedicated to the development of the region and the nation as a whole.
